ECOPODS™

Overview
The scenario sets the year 2060 where energy is no longer a utility but a personal currency, forcing a rethinking of basic life functions, including work. The final concept, Symbiotic WorkPods (Eco Pods), are biophilic, modular, and AI-optimized work environments that operate off-grid.

The Challenge
To design workspaces for a society where productivity must continue despite the central constraint of only 1 hour of electricity access per individual per day. The design must address how people access, use, and coordinate energy when it becomes a scarce resource.
The Solution
The ECOPODS™ concept relies on self-generated energy and AI-managed energy allocation. Key features include: Mycelium architecture (biodegradable, insulating), Solar Skin & Moss Layering (generating micro-volts via photosynthesis), Thermal-Body Harvesting Floors (capturing footsteps and thermal energy), and natural light optimization.
The Result
The ECOPODS™ concept provides a solution that operates entirely off-grid, reduces carbon footprint, and is easily adapted to different environments. Backcasting ensured the solution was rooted in plausible technological possibilities by the year 2060.
